In going through my list of random shots recently I began to see a theme, in that I seem to have gathered quite a few images containing birds lately. So it made sense to post them all up as a series, which I hope you enjoy!
These top four are street art pieces that I’ve spotted on my walks around town. I like the last one, which is a painting someone did and then just hung on a light post on a short side-street. I wonder how many people have noticed it there.
I love the stenciled birds that I got in Kensington Market. Such great colours and excellent stenciling skill. Often with this style you see a paint halo around each image.
The next pictures with a green parrot were taken on our honeymoon in Costa Rica, almost 13 years ago. They were taken on film as digital cameras didn’t even exist back then! Little did we know at the time that we would still be smiling together all these years later. Though of course we had hoped we would, but you never really know. This is one of my most favourite pictures of Nick ever.
And here are some black pigeons I came across down the street. The tee-shirt is what my sister was wearing when we went for lunch recently.
This tiny hummingbird made of feathers is something I picked up on a whim many years ago and stuck into the dirt of one of my plants, where it has resided to this day. As for the ceramic figurine, she is one that I picked up at a yard sale. Though she is not really my style I couldn’t resist her little face and that bird.
In closing I will add a quote I found : “You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair.” (Chinese) Good words to live by I’d say!
Thanks for taking a look.
