Out for Dinner with Friends and What I Wore

My friends Barb and Izzy and I went for dinner on Friday evening to a place called Pizzeria Libretto. I had tried to get in there once before was it was packed to the gills and there wouldn’t be a table ready for a long time, so knowing this, we decided to aim for an early dinner and arrived at 6:30. And, it was packed, but we scored go booth table so the night was off to a very good start.

We shared a plate of calamari, followed by a couple of their pizza choices. We also had a nice bottle of Italian wine, (Sangiovese made by the Falesco vineyard). And since we were still full of things to talk about after we ate, we decided to have coffee, (cappuccino for Barb and me and espresso for Izzy). And after asking if any of us had a nut allergy, the friendly server also treated us to some delicious biscotti.

It was a great meal, enjoyed with great friends. These two often share the duty of sitting with Eddie our cat when we go away so they know him well, so there was more than just a little talk about him.

The ladies insisted I bring the left-over pizza home for Nick, who tucked right into it when I got home. Now he wants to go to Pizzeria Libretto too!

It is still quite cool here in the evenings, so my outfit choice was cozy. I got this cotton blue cardigan while on a mini-holiday in Montreal, where Nick and I went for Valentine weekend a few years ago. (In fact at the time I was making the purchase, Barb and/or Iz would have been at our place watching Ed.) The sweater also came in a beautiful shade of green and I’ve always wished I’d bought that one too.

I bought the handmade glass and silver-leaf pendant from the woman who made it, at a Saturday outdoor market where my parents live. She had so many one-of-a-kind pieces that it was very hard to pick one.

I got my vintage clutch handbag off of ebay, from a man who was helping his elderly aunt sell some of her things. She was apparently very stylish and he told me this bag was one of her favourites, which she took very good care of. I am happy to have this unique piece and to know the story behind it.

The restaurant was a good walk to and from my place, but it was a gorgeous evening so I decided to go by foot and therefore wore some comfortable boots. These slip-ons will be missed when they become too worn to wear any longer, which might not be in the too distant future as I do choose them quite often.
